Mt. Pico De Loro Traverse Day Hike - July 2, 2011

Jasper and Budz had organized a day hike to Mt. Pico de Loro traversing from Ternate, Cavite to Nasugbu, Batangas last July 2, 2011. A total 15 persons had joined the said climb, we pursued even if a few backed out due to important reasons.
Mt. Pico De Loro Summit and the Parrot's Beak
Mt. Pico De Loro is located in both Cavite and Batangas province. Its elevation is around 664 meters above sea level. It is accessible from Ternate Cavite or Nasugbu Batangas. Its major jumpoff situated in magnetic hill, Ternate. It is a minor climb with 2-5 hours of trekking. But we did it for about 8 hours including lunch, take 5s and a couple of 10 minutes break.
Day 0
Mhean and I were already packed up. We went to Shopwise Pacita at around 9:30 PM to buy foods for the hike. We proceeded to Budz's place together with Jasper and spent the night to prepare our packed breakfast and lunch.
Day 1
At around 3 AM, SC arrived and off we go to the meeting place in Jollibee Junction. We arrived in Alabang at around 4:30 AM, Joshua and Cherry were already waiting there. Everybody else arrived one at a time. At around 6:00 AM we departed for Ternate. We rode a jeepney and travelled for about 2 and a half hour from Alabang to Ternate. We take the route from Alabang-GMA-DasmariƱas-Trece Martires-Ternate. At around 8:30 AM, we arrived in Magnetic Hill wherein the trek started.
Getting ready for the trek.
It was around 9:00 AM when we have arrived in the basecamp. We had a 10 minutes of rest. We'd met some fellow mountaineers from Pasig, if i'm not mistaken.

By 9:10 AM, we've resumed our trek and at around 10:00 AM we had reached alibangbang and by 11:30 AM we have reached the campsite. There we'd took our lunch for the day. We ate pancit, rice and the "adobo sa asin". Picture was taken, summit, beak, etc.

At around 1:30 PM we started trekking off the traverse to Nasugbu, Batangas. It took 3 hours of descend from very steep rocky trail, to kawayanan trail and upto the mango tree filled trail. Our pacing was quite fast even one of our guest got injured on her right arm. We had reached the road that leads to Nasugbu at around 4:25 PM and we had waited for Mang Jose's arrival to pick up us and rode to Alix Beach Resort wherein we spent the night and refreshed after a long day of walking. That experience was indeed a great adventure to remember.

Buntot Palos aka "Hidden Falls"

HOW TO GO THERE
If you are coming from Alabang, you can ride a bus bound to Sta. Cruz Laguna. Drop off to Pagsawitan,
From there, you can ride a jeep bound for Siniloan and drop off to Barangay Balian, Pangil, Laguna. From Balian you can walk up to the jumpoff point or to Green house. Trekking would only last for about 2-3 hours depending on your group pace.

Here are some photos taken at the falls. Enjoy viewing.

Old Pictures of Mountain Hiking/Climbing

I came accross accessing my account on MySpace and seen these memorable pictures.

The first picture was taken on December 2007 and was my first ascend to Philippines 3rd highest mountain, the so called "Playground of the Gods" none other than Mt. Pulag. We've joined an organized climb by Sir Patrich Bonaobra and Sir Roger Casacop. Mhean Bayog and Junie Hayao are with me along this exciting adventure.

Taking rest at Mt. Pulag's campsite 2 with new found friends.
All in all, the experience were great and memories that was kept in our hearts.

The next pictures was taken on January 2007, my first ascend to the famous Mt. Maculot and it's rockies. This climb was organized by some fellow mountaineers from AMDATEX. The traditional trail climb turns to a traverse to grotto climb. The view from the summit of Mt. Maculot were superb and astounding.

The next pictures was taken on Manabu Peak sometime in September 2007. We climb to celebrate John's birthday along with the first climb of my buddy Junie Hayao together with Mhean Bayog, Bong Abasolo, Christian Veneryan, Iris Munsayac, Ace Concepcion, Rommel Villaneva, John Quizon, Maureen Lim, Jay Pavia and Jocelyn Pavia.
